A sad Sunday: The film legend has just passed away; he was 77 years old…

Daniel Beretta, known as the French voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger, has died at the age of 77. His friend Jean-Luc Reichmann paid tribute to him with a moving tribute on Instagram.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has lost his French voice. The actor, known for films such as « Double Impact » (1988), « Total Recall » (1990), « Last Action Hero » (1993), « True Lies » (1994), the « Terminator » saga (1984), and « The Expendables » (2010), was dubbed by Daniel Beretta. The 77-year-old passed away earlier this week in Ajaccio, Corsica. His death comes just weeks after the passing of Alain Dorval, who provided the French voice for Sylvester Stallone. The sad news was announced by his friend Michel Vigné on Facebook: « A friend, a brother, a buddy… Goodbye, Daniel, sending you my love. »

Daniel Beretta was also the voice actor for the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Daniel Beretta wasn’t just the French voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He also dubbed Ernie Hudson, Rutger Hauer, and Alan Rickman. He lent his voice to Lumière in the animated film Beauty and the Beast (1991) and to the mayor in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). In addition, he made a name for himself as an actor, appearing in films such as The Longest Ride (1970), The Dust of the Sun (1972), Predators of the Night (1988), and Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), to name just a few. Since the start of the US series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 1999, he has also been the French voice of the famous catchphrase.
