Understanding how your lymphatic system supports every other system in your body—including the immune, digestive, detoxification, and nervous systems—can be an extremely beneficial and often overlooked element of true health. In fact, many experts believe that poor lymphatic health underlies a wide range of health problems, from cellulite to cancer.
Lymphatic Cleansing: A large portion of lymphatic tissue is connected to the gut (lymphatic tissue linked to the digestive tract). Lymphatic tissue is where most of your immunity begins, and since the digestive tract is a primary pathway for harmful substances (bacteria, allergens, heavy metals, mold, fungi, chemicals, trans fats), your main lines of defense are located in the gut.
Natural detoxification of the body has been practiced since the time of Native Americans. And the use of sweat lodges and the Indian practice of Ayurveda dates back even further. Supporting the body’s natural ability to detoxify effectively every day not only contributes to maintaining well-being but also helps prevent illness later in life. Lymphatic drainage is recognized by doctors in Europe and the Far East for its importance in preventative healthcare.
3-Day Lymphatic Cleanse
Here is a lymphatic cleanse I use with my clients. Of course, I suggest you discuss this with your doctor before implementing any new health plan.
Note: You can continue the lymphatic cleanse for an additional 3 days to complete this process.
Where to Start:
It’s important to eliminate all potential food allergens, including: dairy products, wheat, corn, soy, preservatives, and food additives.
Avoid all refined and processed foods and beverages. This means no bread, pasta, crackers, cereal, cookies, or anything else that has packaging and/or added sugar.
Eliminate trans fats, which are found in margarine, baked goods, and fast-food items like fries and donuts.
Limit your coffee intake at breakfast, and especially avoid drinking it on an empty stomach, as this puts a strain on your body (particularly your adrenal glands) during the detoxification process. Also, avoid other stimulants like alcohol, soda, and tobacco.
Drink 6-8 glasses of pure, filtered water (room temperature or warm) daily.
Exercise, breathe deeply, and enjoy the sunshine every day.
For better lymphatic drainage, get an herbal formula. One of my favorites is made by ABC de la Nature. The recommended dosage is 1 gram three times a day. You can add it to filtered water, fresh juice, or a smoothie.
Day 1
Gather as much green, fresh, and organic vegetables as possible:
Lymph Cleanse 4
Spring onions,
Zucchini,
Celery stalks,
Parsley,
Mustard greens,
Beet greens,
Cabbage,
Bell peppers,
Spinach,
Leaf,
Broccoli,
Carrots,
Beets
*Although carrots and beets are not green vegetables, the vitamins and minerals they contain aid in cleansing. Beets contain antioxidants such as beta-carotene, other carotenoids, and beneficial flavonoids. Antioxidants help limit damage from free radicals, thus having a healing and cleansing effect on the liver. Beets also contain folic acid, which is necessary for the first stage of detoxification.
